This game stars Lanni, a young child who has been taken to another world overrun with evil animated Dice-like creatures who punish gamblers who haven't paid their debts. She didn't gamble with money, but instead traded her soul in order to cheat at boardgames and always get the roll she needed. Now when she sleeps, she is haunted by the nightmare of fighting endless waves of bloodthirsty dice.

A bit about the process
This game was made for the GMTK 2022 game jam, where the theme was "Role of the Dice".
Coming up with a concept for the game was fairly quick among my 4 teammates, the original was to make a dungeon crawler with various dice, where the amount of faces would represent the amount of life they had. Due to the time constraint, it ended up being just a room with various waves of D6.
The design for the characters was heavily inspired by the shapes of various dice for the enemies, a dungeon like room but with a touch of casino, and finally, the main character was supposed to resemble a child while keeping the design simple and memorable. The pastel color palette came from the narrative we had constructed around Lanni, our main character, that she was haunted in her dreams by the dice, since the character is a female child it made sense to keep things light, pastel, and colorful.
During the period of the jam over 100 sprites were hand-drawn and colored.
The game itself ranked overall in 1476 out of 6078, and aesthetic wise ranked in 469. Dice Versa can still be played in the browser or downloaded for Windows here.
